Slumberjack ^® is comfort, first and foremost. And not just comfort while sleeping, but there are self inflating chairs, also. While goose down is a time-honored, expedition proven natural insulation, synthetic fills have been replacing down for several reasons. Synthetics are more efficient if they get damp, they cost less, their weight is only slightly more than down and most synthetics can be machine washed. We generally recommend strongly against using down in this area. If you have a secret method of keeping it dry, please let us know.
So, what do we recommend? We tend to favor the Doublelite bags for all around comfort, price and versatility. These are durable, compactible bags for cold weather with double-layer offset DuPont Dacron Hollofil II insulation. They have a 210T polyester taffeta outer shell for durability and a 210T polyester taffeta liner. They also feature a hook-and-loop collar closure, an outside flap pocket and a #5 coil zipper. All the bags in this design come with a stuff sack.

NOTE on bag sizes: Any two bags in a series that are the same size cut can be zipped together to make a double bag. In the mummy style bags the same is true except that it is necessary to purchase a right hand and a left hand bag.
